Okau
Station at Mataikona in the rural Wairarapa area of New Zealand,
provides accomodation not only to deerstalkers and hunters, but
also for anyone who is seeking a comfortable retreat with stunning
coastal New Zealand views. Other activities that can be arranged
include fresh water and salt water fishing, horse treks, tramping,
photography, golfing and much more.
Okau Wilderness Park offers a variety of accommodation options,
for non-hunting visitors and hunters alike.
For hunters, there are options of the main bush hut and a small
(3 bunk) hunting cabin. Access to these huts is by 4 wheel motorbike.
The main hut "Wilderness Hut" contains a bunk room,
2 double bedrooms, open fire cooking, Coleman lighting, and hot
showers - all the basic necessities capturing a wilderness experience.
Hunters and / or non-hunting companions may also elect to use
the self contained unit adjoining our home. This unit comprises
two double bedrooms (both with en suite facilities) and lounge
area. This option offers all the comforts of home, while enjoying
spectacular panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and the bush
clad hills of Okau Park.
For casual visitors, there is an option from three contained
units by the coast. These units are self contained except for
linen and bedding:
- Beach Retreat (Sleeps 7)
- Colonial Cottage (Sleeps 10)
- Cabin (Sleeps 4)
